Blind and roller shutter repair
Broken strap, blind stuck halfway, snapped slats, seized shaft or a motor that has stopped. We repair any make and any model in Villajoyosa and across the Marina Baixa, including blinds whose manufacturer no longer exists.
What we repair
Straps and winders
The single most common fault on a manual blind. The strap frays where it rubs, then snaps, and the curtain either stays up or drops. Sometimes it has not even broken — it has simply come off the pulley inside the box. We replace straps in all the standard widths, along with recessed and surface winders, and spring-assisted winders where the curtain is heavy.
Shaft, bearings and pulleys
The octagonal shaft carries the whole weight of the curtain. Near the coast it corrodes faster than most people expect. As it does, the blind gets heavier, then squeals, and eventually the shaft bends or snaps. We replace the shaft, end caps and bearings, and check the curtain while the box is open.
Slats
Broken by impact, by wind catching a half-open blind, or by forcing a blind that was already jammed. Individual slats can be swapped without dismantling the whole curtain while the profile is still available. Otherwise we source a compatible profile or make a new curtain to measure.
Side guides
This is where the coastal climate does most of the damage. Salt and grit build up inside the guide, it corrodes, and the slats start to catch. The symptom is a blind that is stiff in patches with a distinctive dragging noise. We clean, lubricate with the right product — not household oil, which attracts more dirt — and replace guides that are distorted or corroded through.
Motors, remotes and limit switches
On an electric blind we diagnose in order: remote battery, receiver pairing, limit switch adjustment, motor capacitor, then the motor itself. Only then do we quote.
Old buildings
In the old town of Villajoyosa, and in older properties throughout the area, the openings are not square. Walls are thick, lintels are out of true and the width differs top to bottom. We measure the real opening at three heights and make the curtain to that, rather than forcing a catalogue size that will always catch on one side.
What we will not do
We will not replace a whole blind when a repair will do. We will not quote one price on the phone and a different one when we finish. And we will not hand your job to a lead-generation network: you deal directly with the professional who organises the work, not with a call centre.
When it is an emergency instead
If the blind will not close and the property is left accessible, if the curtain has come loose and could fall, or if a shop cannot open or close, that is an emergency and it is covered 24 hours. See emergency service. Everything else is cheaper handled in normal working hours.
Questions about blind repairs
The blind will not go up. Is that expensive?
Usually not. The most common cause by far is a broken or derailed strap inside the box, or a worn winder. Both are quick, inexpensive repairs when caught early. Forcing it is what turns a cheap job into an expensive one.
My blind is stiff and noisy. What is happening?
Almost always salt and grit in the side guides, plus worn bearings on the shaft. Near the sea this is the standard pattern. Cleaning, lubricating and replacing bearings usually solves it.
Can you replace just the broken slats?
Yes, as long as the profile is still made. If the model is discontinued we look for a compatible profile, and if there is none we make a new curtain to the exact size and reuse your box and guides.
Do you repair electric blinds too?
Yes. With a motorised blind the first job is finding out whether the fault is the motor, the remote, the receiver or the electrical supply. Replacing a working motor because the remote was dead is the most expensive mistake in this trade.
Will you have to take the window out?
Almost never. We work through the inspection hatch on the blind box, from inside the property. Only sealed boxes with no accessible hatch need another approach, and we tell you before we start.
Can you repair the old wooden slat blinds?
Yes. The persiana alicantina — wooden slats on cords — is still common in old town houses. We replace cords, slats and pulleys.
Is it worth repairing or should I replace it?
If the slats are sound and the problem is the strap, winder, shaft or motor, repairing is far cheaper. If the curtain is warped with several broken slats, we will tell you straight even though replacement is not what you wanted to hear.
